the Struve-Tenner geodetic arc and the Tartu observatory with the rest of the 33 preserved triangulation points in 10 states was entered into the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In 2002 the Estonian Land Board had an international conference to mark 150 years from the completion of the measurement of the arc. The conference promoted the idea of registering the arc as an object of the UNESCO World Heritage list (Land Board).
