1953

the plenary meeting of the Astrosovet in Tartu.

The plenary meeting of the coordinating body of the astronomical research of the Soviet Union in Tartu was itself the recognition of the Estonian astronomers. The confirmation of the high level of research in Tartu led to the decision to build a new observatory outside the town (later it was decided to build it at Tõravere).
