Grigori Kuzmin published his works in the classical theory of the stellar dynamics: the theory of the third integral and models of flat stellar systems.

Thanks to the works of Mädler and Öpik the Tartu observatory had a long-term tradition of studying the stellar systems (clusters of stars and galaxies) or the tradition of stellar astronomy. This tradition was continued by Grigori Kuzmin (1917-1988) who presented the theory of the third integral of stellar systems (two integrals were known earlier), its implementation for modeling the Milky Way and he produced the flat models of stellar systems (the so-called Kuzmin’s disc). His scientific work in the fields of the stellar dynamics belongs to the classical research in astronomy.
