The imperial University of Tartu was at the crossroads of the Russian and the German cultural space. It was most characteristic of the Tartu Observatory that the many young scientists who had studied and received positive impetus here became later heads of other observatories. In different times they went to almost all bigger observatories of Russia and many European, mainly German observatories. The following overview includes all the astronomers of the Struve family although the fourth generation did not study any longer in Tartu. After the name of the observatory there is the year of foundation in brackets. Click on the name of the observatory and then on the name of director!.
