The University of Tartu Museum showcases the history of science and university
education from the 17
th century to the present day – come and experience the rich legacy of the University and explore its tales of science, art, astronomy, medicine and student life!

There is plenty to discover in the Museum’s permanent exhibition, the interactive annual exhibition and the Crazy Scientist’s Office, which is especially fun for kids.

You can arrange a guided tour on the history of the University of Tartu on the basis of the permanent exhibition or on Toome Hill as a centre of scientific development. You can read more about the guided tours here.

In addition to the University of Tartu Museum in the historic Tartu Cathedral, there are two other museum branches located near the main building. The Old Observatory, situated in the South-West part of Toome Hill, contains old telescopes and introduces the achievements of Estonian astronomy. The University of Tartu Art Museum, located in the main building of the University, showcases an exhibition of antique art.
