SIC 2014 Scientific Instrument Commission 33. Symposium
The University of Tartu Museum was honoured to host the Scientific Instrument Symposium. SIC is a sub-organisation of the International Union of the History and Philosophy of Science, which promotes studying the history of scientific instruments, documenting and preserving their collections all over the world. You can find more information on the conference homepage.
The annual symposiums are organised in places with distinguished collections of scientific instruments. The conference is a good way to introduce the University of Tartu Museum’s remarkable scientific instrument collection to foreign guests as well as the public at large. In order to promote public interest, two exhibitions entitled Made in Tartu and G.F. Parrot’s PhysicsOoffice will be opened in connection to the science festival There’s Physics in the Air on August 25 (the opening day of the conference).
