Medical collection

Medical collection (AjM) consists of equipment, apparatuses and instruments used in medicine and natural sciences: diagnostics equipment (X-ray), surgical tools, dental instruments, medicine making machines, experimental physiology instruments, anthropological instruments and much more.

The collection is based on a selection of science and teaching collections acquired from across the world (Professor Johann von Erdmann’s pharmaceutical herb collection (1836); Professor of Pharmacy Georg Dragendorff’s collection of drugs, cinchona bark, resin and microscope slides (1860–80); a rich collection of medical teaching aids, natural science (botany, zoology, geography) equipment (water and soil sample kits, drug drying and preservation devices), geodetic instruments (nivelirs, alidates)).
